This is the perfect city break hotel. Located only a step away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist attractions, yet tucked away in a relatively quiet tree lined street: lovely to walk along by day and perfectly safe at night. We booked a superior room (301) with lovely street views and enjoyed watching the city come to life in the morning. Although the hotel sits on a busy crossroad the street noise was very faint (I’m a light sleeper and had no problems at all). The room itself was everything you’d expect from a city hotel - small but perfectly laid out with a good hairdryer and iron. The beds were the most comfortable I’ve slept in and the crisp white linen sheets were impeccably ironed (I love that!). Superb rainfall shower which was very welcome after a long day sightseeing. The cleanliness of the public areas was exceptional too with a lovely fragrance from diffusers at the front desk welcoming you. Lots of great tapas bars and restaurants line the adjacent streets, not to mention fantastic, independent, clothes boutiques (leave some room in your suitcase for super buys at reasonable prices!). The location is perfect. What makes this a 10/10 review though is the staff. Cheerful, funny, engaging and ever so helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. A warm welcome from the front desk from the moment of arrival to departure. They provided daily recommendations for restaurants, gave directions and booked bus trips - chatting with the staff each morning added that extra special finish to a fabulous stay in Barcelona. We will be back and would highly recommend Hotel America.

We loved the location. A ton of restaurants outside the front door and close to some of the sites, such as the Casa Mila and Casa Batlló. The rooms were nice, modern, and comfortable. We had connected rooms and really liked that too - helpful when you're traveling with teenagers. We didn't use the pool but would have had we stayed longer. For the bar, it's more about the atmosphere than what's on the drinks menu. We noticed it was a popular first stop for anyone hitting the town. I also really appreciated the proximity to the train station, taxis out front, and the truly wonderful staff. We were in and out a bit and the pleasant "Buenas" as we came and went were really appreciated. I also liked the enthusiastic recommendation we got for a local gelato place and the interested, "Did you find it? How was it?" when we got back.

This is a very nice 4 star hotel in a high end area of Barcelona close to most tourist attractions. Others are easily reached by metro close by. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The room was spacious, comfortable bathroom and lots of storage. Unfortunately during our stay, the hot water boiler failed so we only had cold water and a kettle to heat water for sponge baths for three days. The inconvenience was offset by the hotel providing a full refund for each day without water. Because we wanted to extend our stay due to the floods in Valencia, our next destination, the hotel happily accommodated us at the same rate. The air-conditioning (in November) was superb so we could sleep comfortably at night with the windows closed.

Location was perfect for us - a balance of very close and walkable to the busy streets but far enough away to be in a relatively quiet spot. Our room was lovely. The shower was fantastic. The pool was small but really nice with great views (you can even see la Segrada from the deck!) The rooftop bar was lovely also. The guacamole was great! The staff were very helpful and friendly. I believe it was Pablo on reception who checked us in who was delighted to help us find an activity for the evening. We were able to leave our luggage with reception after we checked out and did more exploring, which we were very grateful for.

We absolutely loved our stay here - friendly/helpful staff at reception and at bar, great location with beautiful tree-lined surrounding streets full of restaurants and bars. Room was large, modern, comfortable and quiet (with window closed). At the pool on the roof, there are four loungers, and four seats immediately by pool. Away from pool, plenty of seating around bar with great views. Pool had about 4 people max beside it during our visit in May. Free towels to use at pool. We would stay here again.
